What phases does the expectant mother go through during pregnancy?
The first phase is a conceptual examination and counselling as well as taking a medical history.
The second phase is the actual antenatal care. There are three important points here: a genetics and ultrasound examination at around week 12, then at week 20 the examination of the child's morphology and the diagnostics of the organs, especially the heart, as well as screening, and finally the growth check at week 30. At this point the diagnostics of the organs and genetics are complete. If that goes well, there are no further problems in most cases.
Our centre works closely with other clinics and specialists from many fields. If an additional test or further specialist consultation is suddenly needed - for example, a consultation with a cardiologist for cardiac arrhythmias - it can all be organised very quickly.
The most amazing thing is that sometimes it is not only women who need a consultation. We had a case recently where it turned out that our patient's partner (husband) had lung problems, so we contacted a specialist and the next day the husband was sent for an appointment at a special clinic.
