Does hormone replacement therapy affect the risk of breast cancer?

GYN & PERINATAL ZURICH > Does hormone replacement therapy affect the risk of breast cancer?

There is an ongoing debate and it depends on which supplements you use. Surprisingly, there are even situations where menopausal hormone replacement therapy (MHT) can reduce the risk of breast cancer. According to research, many women who develop cancer have co-existing risk factors such as smoking or being overweight, or there are other unfavourable factors such as hereditary.

In any case, hormone replacement therapy must be monitored by a doctor. It is necessary to monitor how the woman feels and to perform regular breast examinations. Furthermore, in women who have had their uterus removed, it is not necessary to receive progesterone; oestrogen is sufficient.

There are certain rules that have to be followed. This method is very effective when applied with expertise. It brings visible results: The skin becomes firmer, the hair and nails become stronger and shinier, the bones less fragile. Nothing beats hormone replacement therapy for stabilising bone tissue and preventing osteoporosis and vaginal atrophy.
