FAQ on Covid 19 vaccination and boosters

GYN & PERINATAL ZURICH > FAQ about Covid-19 vaccination and booster

Basic recommendation for vaccination during pregnancy

Vaccination against COVID-19 is officially recommended for all pregnant women - without pre-existing conditions or in special risk situations - from the second trimester of pregnancy. Studies to date (including 100,00 women vaccinated with mRNA vaccines against SARS-CoV-2) show no evidence that vaccination leads to more complications in pregnant women than in non-pregnant women. The Swiss Society of Gynaecologists (SGGG) also recommends vaccination.

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Covid 19 vaccination:

Vaccinate if you want to have children

Women who wish to have children can be vaccinated against COVID-19. There is no evidence that the COVID-19 vaccination could have a negative impact on fertility. Corona vaccination, on the other hand, reduces possible risks in pregnancy.

Vaccinating during breastfeeding

According to current knowledge, there is no increased risk for the breastfeeding woman or the infant associated with the Corona vaccination during the breastfeeding period. There is no need to delay vaccination because of the onset of breastfeeding, to interrupt breastfeeding because of vaccination or even to wean the infant.

Uncertainty and questions

Discuss your questions with your medical specialist (gynaecologist or family doctor), especially if you are uncertain about the risk-benefit ratio.
